Grief Does Not Move in Stages. It Moves like Weather.
Lavender “Lav” Kelley is a board-certified pediatric chaplain, writer, and doctoral student in practical theology living in Washington, D.C. With nearly 20 years of chaplaincy experience, their work has centered on accompanying children and families through serious illness, grief, trauma, and complex medical journeys. Lav’s current writing and research explore the intersections of spiritual care, trauma healing, grief, relational theology, creativity, and meaning-making, especially among those navigating religious trauma, chronic illness, and experiences of marginalization. Deeply shaped by liberation theology, contemplative spirituality, and communal practices of lament and hope, Lav writes about grief, healing, justice, and the sacredness of remaining open to one another in a fractured world.
