Kamala—and frankly anyone paying attention to Trump—who he was, what he wanted, and what those funding him wanted…saw what we’re going through, now, coming. None of this is a surprise.

Well, one thing is a surprise.

Democracy Dies in a lack of courage. Obama talked about this, recently, too. “It has been easy for most of our lifetimes to say you support [democracy] and not pay a price for it.”

She saw it all coming. We all did, those of us who pay attention to journalism, who care about our planet, who care about democracy, and who read up on Project 2025’s Christmas Wish List. But she didn’t see this one thing coming:

Stephen Colbert: “You warned everyone about the future under our president.

You said he would prosecute political enemies, cut Medicaid & Medicare, ignore court orders, alienate our allies, give massive tax cuts to the rich.

I know you’re not here to say ‘I told you so’ but would you like to?”

Kamala Harris: “You’re correct that I did predict a lot of it. What I did not predict was the capitulation… I didn’t see that coming.”

One interesting comment: “She was trying to explain that she wanted to use her time outside of office to travel and talk to Americans, but she said that in a confusing way that almost sounded at first like the same capitulation she later railed against. And Colbert himself was confused.”
